BLACKPINK’s Lisa Faces Backlash Over Alleged Rosa Parks Imagery in Met Gala Outfit

On May 5 (local time), Lisa attended the Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Met Gala, known as the biggest fashion and charity event in the U.S., took on the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”.

However, on May 6, major foreign media outlets such as the UK’s Daily Mail and the U.S.’s Page Six reported a wave of criticism aimed at Lisa’s outfit.
They noted, “Lisa wore Louis Vuitton lingerie adorned with a collage of women, and one of the faces bore a striking resemblance to civil rights activist Rosa Parks.”
The backlash exploded on social media, with netizens expressing outrage, “Putting Rosa Parks on underwear is incredibly disrespectful” and “Who thought this was a good idea?” The term “Rosa Parks underwear” began trending rapidly across platforms.

In response, Louis Vuitton told The Cut, “The print comes from the work of artist Henry Taylor, who creates portraits of people he encounters in life.” However, when asked specifically whether Rosa Parks’s face was used on Lisa’s bottoms, the brand replied vaguely “Henry Taylor portrays both famous and anonymous individuals” and did not give a direct answer.
As of now, Lisa’s side has remained silent regarding the controversy.
Rosa Parks was a key figure in the U.S. civil rights movement, best known for her pivotal role in the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott.
